Took a few days off from the internet to take the trailer up for one last swing up to our old stomping grounds in Big Water, UT.
The weather was warm, with high overcast skies mixed with sun. There appears to be a lot more prickly russian thistle in the area than I remember, which makes hiking cross-country more uncomfortable. We visited with our friends Sam and Lydia and showed our friend Kathleen around the area.
Edge of the Paria Canyon |
We wanted to take our friend Kathleen out to Buckskin Gulch and Cobra Arch. But, unfortunately the road out there was washed out. Thus, we decided to drive up a dirt road near Paria Canyon and then hiked out to the edge of the Paria River Canyon for the view.
We also hiked out Wahweap Wash to one of the myriad of side canyons. Hilina had an awesome time visiting the Big Water Dinosaur Museum, run by Grand-Staircase Escalante National Monument. She enjoyed seeing the dinosaur bones, as well as, walking out with several plastic dinosaurs for her collection. All in all, it was fun to relive the old memories yet again.
